Played with gamepad."Is the game fun?"absolutely. it is brutal, some time may even be more brutal than DR1. Gorgeous graphic and colors. Actually detailed road condition. Some people complain about online issues but so far I don't have much problem with racenet. I do not appreciate that career mode required online, however. You can play freeplay mode offline, fyi."is the game better than DR1?"Well, DR1 is completed game from early access. This game is still on going, with many updates and DLC. I do also wish that it's not a season pass or DLC to get more content, but I guess they need money to make better game regardless. Still, there are plenty of new cars to drive with and much better variety of rallycross."is the game worth the money?"for full price? No. I don't think so. It is absolutely overpriced for content you'll get. You only get very little content for $60 which I highly advice you not to pay for that. Yes, I want to support devs for paying good money, but the with the base game's content so little it should be priced $40. Wait for summer sale, and buy Deluxe edition. All base game +dlc is worth at least $60.. Cannot recommend this game if you already have the first Dirt Rally, the small upgrade in physics and graphics are not worth the 60$, which doesn't even get you all of the content. If you're willing to shell out the 80$ and get the deluxe, then MAYBE it's worth it, but getting just the base game really isn't worth the money. The tarmac physics aren't fixed, the FFB requires edited game files to even WORK in some cases, and when you do get it to work, it's meh. The amount of content is lackluster, and the DLC that's coming out has just been reworks of the original Dirt Rally maps. Wait for a sale at least, or hold on to your money until you see if the content coming down the pipe is any good. Save your money for another day, or just buy the much more complete original.. Is it not a bad game per se, but it feels unfinished. What is mind-boggling is that it' a successor of Dirt Rally, where a lot of missing things are implemented, that the game is already at version 1.1 and that it costs hefty 55 €. Wheel support and FFB is bad, game is not aware for what cars it should use H-shifter and for what sequential, so it's up to players to configure settings each time they change a car. These are small details that work perfectly in Dirt Rally and somehow completely missed Dirt Rally 2.0. The central play mode is crippled by always online feature that is randomly deleting your career progress (?!?). Game should be either still in QA phase or marked as early access and offered at early access price tag. What is not missing and well implemented is DLC content, displayed in a nice popup when you start the game a good week after release. It will deliver some new cars and tracks at new location. It's kinda hard not to feel like idiot paying 55€ for half baked game knowing that they will try to sell you additional content before they even fix the most annoying bugs. So I am an idiot, fine, but I'll be an idiot not recommending the game.. Always online Singleplayer. That's a no from me, dawg.. I preordered the Deluxe edition and two months later I have only sunk an hour into it. The reason is because the force feedback on my G29 wheel is barely functional and I cannot feel the road. The road feel of the original game felt amazing and is the reason I purchased this game. Until Codemasters fix this massive problem my review will have to remain negative.. EDIT: An update to the force feedback system has been released, review may be outdated**As a wheel user I cant recommend it in it's current state due to the broken force feedback system.Road surface feedback is non existent in comparison to Dirt Rally 1.This specific problem won't effect controller players but if you use a racing wheel then I suggest sticking with dirt rally 1 until this big oversight is fixed. The always online and DLC aspects are poor, anti-consumer decisions but are not a deal breaker for me and only add to the reasons I have refunded this game for now. On top of this is the no VR support. On a positive note I love the New Zealand track and Australia track, the track wear and mud are amazing, and the selection of cars is good.It really is a shame that whoever is in charge has decided to release the game in its unpolished state, you can see the love and effort that has been poured into this game and I hope once the issues are fixed they receive great reviews and sell many copies, because it will be a fantastic sequel to dirt rally 1.Don't rush your games so much codemasters.. Full price for a game that has no real rally cars at the beggining of the game (you can unlock them or buy as DLC) and with only 6 rallies? Even more, each rally has about 4 stages, where some of them are reversed or share the same roads... If you want to have more rallies (from DIRT 1) you need to pay for them separately or buy a season pass. The gameplay is great but you can play these rallies in 3 hours, so it is not worth the money. a worthy sequel for Dirt Rally pretty good overall. The game is good at its core but I cannot recommend it, because:1. The SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN, the major progression system in the game requires connection to the Codemasters servers, called RACENET. This means, you can't play the campaign, if you don't have internet connection OR their servers are down. Codemasters servers seem to be down A LOT. Despite having a perfect Internet connection, I could not play at all over the weekend. Many people are having this problem. Read the discussion forums here on steam. Some people have also reported that they lost their progress due to connection issues and had to start over.2. This is a Rally game. There is no snow in it. Excuse me?3. Driving on tarmac feels wrong.4. Many people report steering wheel problems (stuttering, weak/no FFB/no support at all). Can't comment on that other than this is supposed to be a hard-core driving simulation. Wheel support should be perfect. I myself play with a controller, which works great (if RACENET works).5. The track limits often feel artificial. There are often narrow parts, that make sense, like canyons. But there are also often wide parts, that are limited by indestructible wooden fences or raised track borders that make your car fly.6. The damage model is a sad joke. 7. No difficulty adjustment in single player campaign. Instead you have to grind for a couple of hours against trivial opponents for the game to judge you and to find the difficulty for you. Now, I would give this game a thumbs up, despite the problems 2-7. However, "always on" single player mode is an absolute no-go for me, especially with unreliable servers like theirs. Their excuse is, that they want to get rid of the cheaters in the top-lists. Fine. Make top-lists for everything BUT the SINGLE PLAYER campaign or have an option to opt out of top-lists.. Best rally experience i've had, notable if not a huge improvement over the 1st Dirt rally and FFB problems as of now seem to be addressed. Definetly recommended. For this update the slider has been set at a default level of 100 for all devices, but this can be changed to suit your preferences. If you prefer the way things felt previously, then simply head to the Input section of the Options & Extras menu, select your device and then adjust the ‘Suspension’ slider in the Vibration & Feedback tab to 0.We want to give a huge thanks to the entire community for their feedback and patience while we've looked into implementing these changes - especially to those of you who've taken the time to come back to us with incredibly useful, nuanced feedback about your FFB experiences. It's worth mentioning that while this is the first big update to the FFB, it's definitely a work in progress and we plan to refine the feeling further. Please - let us know what you think..
