There will be spoilers! The weakest point in this game (one of them at least) is the ending. It just feels so abrupt! When writing a story with multiple characters and you finish it, we want to know what happens to everyone after finishing it!Like Rook and the rest of his folks: Practically NOTHING was resolved there! The last time I saw him he was still trying to defend the city (WHICH STILL HAS NO KING!) I wanted to know, what happened to him after all this? I've been following him for three games now, I deserve a conclusion to his story! That was just one of MANY missing puzzle pieces! Just a simple "and then they lived happily everafter" would do just fine. To me, this ending just felt like "And they kicked the bad guys♥♥♥♥♥and went home, goodnight!". really should have been part of banner saga 2 - seems like this game is drawn out far longer than needed. it seems like they spread 2 games worth of story over 3 games. banner saga 2 did feel like it ended far too soon. Also it has a mass effect 3 ending where your choices dont matter at all until the last scene.. As with all trilogies, the second Banner Saga is the best. However, if you've come this far, you should finish it. Gameplay-wise, this is the best game in the series. Finally all of the mechanics apply, make sense, are fairly balanced, never get boring, and gel into a compelling gameplay whole. The game does have a few flaws that are all narrative. The first is that almost none of the combat tells a story. There is no perma-death in combat and rarely any consequence for losing. Similarly, where the map used to tell a story, now it is an abstraction. The second is that the cast has swelled to be too large to allow for consistent character development - there are a lot of poorly-drawn, inconsequential characters that are still squabbling for airtime that doesn't add much, especially when the lore is obscure. Especially given the relative absence of cut-scenes to enhance character development, the plot has a feeling of a fun house, popping up cardboard characters here and there that disappear again. This leads to the last problem, which is that all of that noise distracts from what should have been a tighter, more focused ending. I would not say the narrative is a negative, but it feels inferior to the previous games.. Extremely frustrating save system. They like to put save points just before long unskippable cut-scenes so if you loose a battle or want to redo it you'll have the questionable pleasure of having to watch the same annoyingly slow and unskippable cut-scene again and again until it drives you mad.The story is good. The battle system is not as good as xcom imo. Buy if you really liked BS1&2 and it is on sale since it's overpriced at full price for what it is imo.
